Catch up!

Yesterday and today I got all caught up on my bee blocks. I am in the 3x6 Quilting Bee I decided to make everyone the Herringone block. Tutorial found here. It was alot of fun making 6 blocks each made with the persons colors that they specified. This block is now on my list of quilts I want to make. It will be a great scrappy quilt don't you think?

Then I had 2 blocks to catch up on for my Bee Outside the Box bee. First I started with Tifanie's spiderweb block which I was not looking forward to since she wanted use to cut and measure the fabric instead of paper piecing. I love doing spiderweb blocks but I HATE it when they are not paper pieced. My blocks always turn out wonky since I suck at measuring. This block was also alittle challenging since most of the fabrics where clothing. Sewing a quilting block with knit, sweatshirt kind of fabrics was interesting but I do have to say the fabric colors in the block are really great!

Then Deidra sent us out a pattern for her block so it was easy to just follow and sew the squares that she had pre-cut to size. Easy.

Next is my month in the 2 bees I am in and I am excited! I will post on that soon.

3x6 Quilting Bee

I joined in this first round of 2011 for the 3x6 Bee on Flickr. The rules of this Bee are different than other bees in that:

~ Each Beehive consists of 7 participants, 6 of whom you will make a block for.

~ Block size will be 12.5 " unfinished.

~ Make 6 blocks OF THE SAME BLOCK PATTERN using the color choices of each participant. (for example, 6 Sawtooth Stars in different colors and fabrics)

~ the only control you have over the block being made for you is the color choices you have made.

~ Use fabric from your own stash and if you need certain fabric colors, please make a request in the scrap swap thread.

This Bee lasts for 3 months. I made Log Cabin blocks for my Beehive since these are one of my favorite blocks.
