Bee Tweet Quilting Bee

I started a new quilting bee from talking with some of my friends on Twitter and we decided to call it Bee Tweet. It started the year off in May for Erin's block. She wanted scrappy crazy blocks as seen here. It was a really fun block to make. I loved adding in my own scraps along with the ones Erin sent. A large block at 17.5" I highly recommend this block it is a ton of fun to make.

For June it is my month. I purposely gave myself June since it was already scheduled for my month in my other bee, Bee Outside the Box. I thought might as well make them all the same month and have more blocks for one quilt.

I decided on Wonky Maverick Stars since I just love them and wanted a quilt from them especially once I saw this quilt. I made a mosaic for everyone to get a feeling for what I wanted.

Mailed out this stack of fabric along with a bit from Far Far Away 1 & 2 from Heather Ross for the centers of the star.

I made one block myself so that everyone could see it all put together. I really want this quilt to be random stars that are off center since I think it is really fun.

I can't wait to start seeing these blocks pop up in the group of flickr and have it all come together!

Quilting Bee blocks

I haven't ever posted pictures from the quilting bee that I joined along with alot of the Orange County Modern Quilt Guild called Bee Outside the Box. The first block was for Kristine in September and she wanted all of us to make a different block so her quilt would be a sampler quilt. I got flying geese and this is what I did with her fabrics.

This block was featured on Quilting Bee Blocks, Pick Five Monday . Have you been over to that blog to check out all the fun blocks? You should. Erin runs the blog and does an awesome job.

Another block for September was Chantelle's. This block was crazy to make with all the little triangles.

Then in October Regan asked for us to make Sunbonnet Sues with a pattern that she sent along with her fabrics. I switched out some of her fabrics and used most of mine. The stitching of the ice skates I did with my sewing machine and I just LOVE how they turned out.

For November Gwen asked for wonky log cabins in certain sizes since she is following a pattern.

Then she asked us to make a word block using our favorite word. Well my favorite word is SEXY but I didn't think Gwen would like that so I choose Happy instead.

Time for Halloween

It started to sprinkle today which is amazing since just the other day it was in the upper 90's but I took advantage of it today and took my car in to get an oil change, which gave me the excuse of staying inside and sewing.  I have been dying to get out my fabric from Alexander Henry called The Gastlies! They are for a gift for my MIL best friend who lives Halloween year around. Her house and her office at work scream Nightmare before Christmas and The Corpse Bride so when I saw this fabric I called my MIL and told her it was perfect. Here is just a peek.

Ready for Halloween????

I also joined in a Quilting Bee Block group, Bee Outside The Box.  It had been along time since I joined one and I had missed it. Here is the first block, a mini sampler block Flying Geese. It is 16"x16". I used this tutorial if you would like to make one yourself.
