Fabric IS art!

I finished the mini quilt for Penelope's room and along with it I painted a frame and added in a fun print by Alexander Henry. Fabric can make such great art don't you think?

Fabric IS art!

Making these things for Penelope's room made me change some things around and realize I need a rug for her room but I haven't found the right one.

The curtains my Mom and I made have really completed the room and I love that print from Denyse Schmidt's DS collection.

Now I am just on the search for the perfect rug (and really dying for some new carpet for the whole house but that has to wait) and then I think her room will be complete. Well complete until she gets out of her crib and into a bed then the whole room will have to be rearranged. I have no idea where I will put her bed when that happens.

It felt good to make a little mini quilt. Now my next big project is to get back to sewing blocks for the quilt I am making for my bed. Remember them? I know it has been awhile since I started it but I am determined to get it done! I really want it on my bed.

Penelope loves her room which makes me happy. Now I am off to concentrate on my bed quilt!

My Ghastly Pillow & Mug Rug

Here is my Ghastly pillow. Should I keep it or is it to Ghastly???

My Ghastly Pillow

The back is alittle less Ghastly but still....

Bats on the back

To bad it is a gift for someone as I could really use some Ghastliness in my home.

I decided to add just a little by making this Ghastly Mug Rug. This poor little girl is so alone.

Not anymore,  she has Mr. Rootbeer to keep her company.

These sure put me in the mood for Halloween, but I am completely stuck on what to have the girls be for Halloween. I want to make the costumes if possible. ?!?!?!?!?!?

Time for Halloween

It started to sprinkle today which is amazing since just the other day it was in the upper 90's but I took advantage of it today and took my car in to get an oil change, which gave me the excuse of staying inside and sewing.  I have been dying to get out my fabric from Alexander Henry called The Gastlies! They are for a gift for my MIL best friend who lives Halloween year around. Her house and her office at work scream Nightmare before Christmas and The Corpse Bride so when I saw this fabric I called my MIL and told her it was perfect. Here is just a peek.

Ready for Halloween????

I also joined in a Quilting Bee Block group, Bee Outside The Box.  It had been along time since I joined one and I had missed it. Here is the first block, a mini sampler block Flying Geese. It is 16"x16". I used this tutorial if you would like to make one yourself.

Sunday Stash: Green & Blue Edition

The first 2 fabrics are from Alexander Henry and the last one (the one with the writing) is an old Robert Kauffman called Childhood Memories. I was tempted to buy that print in cream also, maybe next time as it is only $3 a yard.

Sunday Stash : Elephants Edition

I think I have mentioned a billion times already that Alexander Henry is one of my favorites. I could not pass up these entertaining elephants & pretty polka dots.

Sunday Stash - Elephants
(I apologize for not ironing the fabrics, I just grabbed them from my stash bin and took pics.)

I bought over a yard of each. I really can not pass up a good polka dot.
