Bloggers Quilt Festival

Amy's Creative Side
This year I am submitting my Interlocking Stars quilt that I made out of my favorite fabric line Park Slope by Erin McMorris along with Kona White. It took me along time to find the right pattern for these fabrics and when I stumbled onto this pillow I knew that I wanted use this pattern.
Penelope's Star Quilt
I wanted to make a really large twin sized quilt so that it could be my youngest daughters bed quilt when she got out of her crib. She still is in the crib so I put it on my other daughters bed to get some pictures.
Park Slope Stars
This quilt really is a queen since it is 102" x 85". Luckily when I needed to lay this out my Mom was here to help me! Thanks again Mom.

Here is the back of the quilt. The back is all Park Slope fabrics.
Floating cabins
This is the perfect girls quilt I think and now I just can't wait for Penelope to get into her twin bed so I can make pillows to work on the bed and we can enjoy this quilt everyday. Here is my original post with a little tutorial if you would like to see how to make this pattern.

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Amy's Creative Side | Bloggers' Quilt Festival

I am joining in again this year to Blogger's Quilt Festival that Amy holds over at her site Amy's Creative Side. It is always hard to choose a quilt but this year I decided to submit the crib quilt that I made my daughter Penelope which I named P's Quilt. I am always calling her P!!

Quilt in the sun

I started this quilt when I was 7 months along, crazy I know. I barely fit under my table to sew on my machine let alone sitting for a long period of time or getting up and down to iron each row of the log cabins.

I knew once I was having a girl I wanted aqua, pink, yellow and green. Those are the colors that always speak to me. Log Cabins were also something that I knew I would do since they are my favorite style of block.

After washing the quilt I wish I had quilted each square but since I was majorly pregnant I only quilted each of the log cabins. I do not love the quilting on the quilt but it is rare that I like my quilting. It always washes up differently each quilt so you never know what it will look like.

over my fence

Here it is today in her room along with the new curtains my mom and I made her. This quilt has been well used and washed. This is still one of my favorite quilts. The colors along with the dots are my favorite as I have mentioned a bunch already.Hopefully Penelope will love it for years and years. Isn't that what we always hope for when we make someone a quilt?

Blogger's Quilt Festival

Amy's Creative Side - Blogger's Quilt Festival

I have decided to submit a quilt for the 4th annual Blogger's Quilt Festival. I am submitting an older quilt that I made for my Mom which I called Measurements Quilt.  I used Recess by Moda because once I saw that fabric I thought it just screamed my Mom. The tape measure fabric is just so perfect.

Measurements quilt

I wanted to make a quilt for my Mom since she had made me sooo many things over my lifetime. Countless clothes, not to mention my wedding dress, Halloween costumes, do you remember those clothes made out of knit that were called " Units" ???? I just loved those outfits and she made me tons of them in all different colors.  Anywho I decided to just make some improv blocks since I thought that would be easier and faster. I just love this line from Moda especially since I am not usually a fan of Moda's fabrics.

Here is the back of the quilt. Isn't Gweniveve so small? She was so excited to sit on the quilt for a picture with Grandma's quilt.

so shy

I embroidered a label for the back of the quilt and free motioned in wavy lines.

We have used this quilt a couple of times when we have gone to see my parents and the colors are still amazing after many washes. It makes me think I need to make another quilt with these fabrics since I still have a couple of charm packs.

Don't forget to see all the other quilts that are entered. You can check them out on Amy's site or in the flickr pool.
