A revealing post

Soooo......This week has been interesting here at my house. We have been under construction and things have been messy but the progress has been awesome. It has made me think about alot of things especially since I painted non stop and had the time to think. I have really gotten caught up in things and have been a stress case this last year or more. I always have tons on my plate since I started to get really involved in the sewing community on flickr, which is amazing and has been great, but it has made me feel like I have to create and create something new, no one has done before and to always be making and creating and getting things out there to keep up with everyone else. I have taken on to much and added way to much stress into my life and things have suffered. It is totally my fault and I need to fix it and get back to the person I was before. When I did all of this for me and my girls. When I wasn't always sewing and on the computer all the time. Craziness I know.

I love to sew and make things but I need to be able to slow down. I want to read again ( I am a sucker for a good romance novel) and not always thinking of all the sewing things I need to get done and the anxiety and pressure it makes me feel. I need more time with my girls and husband. I am just letting you know that I will be slowing down and nothing is wrong just that I am going to get back to having fun and doing things when I want to do them and not taking on to much.

To do that I am dedicating today's picture for my 365 project to :

LOVE - 58:365

Don't worry though sewing is in my blood and I love it and just love fabric ( Denyse Schmidt reprinting Flea Market Fancy?!?!?!?! YES PLEASE) and will still be doing all that I have been just at a slower pace! It is going to be a great year. This new house has given me a new outlook and happiness.

Road Trip

We are leaving today to go and have Thanksgiving with my parents. I am so excited to go since it has been 3 years since we have been able to go and stay with my parents. It will be a big change for us since it is snowing in Utah where my parents live ( and just for the record since once I say that everyone always thinks that I am from Utah but no I have lived in California my whole life. My parents decided after living in the same house in Orange County, California for over 30 years to sell it and retire to Utah and I have never forgiven them. :) I miss that house that we lived in. It was the best house. Anywho....) it might be really interesting for us to be in the cold and to have the girls in the snow.

My poor Dad will be subject to more of Dr. Gwenie. He is such a great sport.

My Mom and I will, hopefully, have some time to sew.

The view from my parents back porch will look a little different then this.

I will expect more photos like this one. This was back in 2007.

Looks like I am going to be MIA until next week so I apologize in advance. Unless I have time to blog while I am there. You never know. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you have a great day.

Obsessed with shirring

I have sewed so much in the last 2 days and it isn't quilts......it is clothes! I was on a shirring high. I had an awesome night ahead, with a promise of a hot date. I wanted to make something new to wear but didn't have alot of time so I used my new skills (thanks to my Mom) and pulled out my Nicey Jane, Slim Dandy fabric & my Amy Butler Love fabric, and started sewing with an idea.

Luckily it all came together and my hot date went great.

Date night

You can wear this skirt with the shirt out like on did on my date or with it tucked in to show off the shirring. I also made my daughters some clothes to. I made my oldest a shirt. She choose the fabric from my stash and it was no surprise that it was blue since that is her favorite!

I made my youngest daughter a dress to match but she was asleep when we were taking pictures and when she woke up we were on our way to the OC fair. I will get pictures soon.

Gwen's blue top

I do have to say the pocket I made I love! I love that I made it in a contrasting fabric and that it is deep.

Love my polka dot pocket

I will be making more clothes in the future since they are fun to make!
