Making Curtains

With my Mom here visiting I have got tons of things done! We have washed windows, hung up lots of art, family photos, sewed and hung TONS of curtains and rods (the rod part is a pain in the butt). I told you a little bit ago that I bought a whole bolt of fabric from the new DS Quilts Collection from JoAnn's to make Penelope curtains. We "tried" to cut them out but someone kept wanting to lay on the fabric, apparently it is soft.

I love my new curtains

Once we were able to get them cut out. We pinned in some black out curtains and started sewing. Here I am sewing one panel while my mom is in the background pinning. My dad was nice enough to take the picture.

Then we had to hang up the rod which is so annoying. I hate measuring and making sure everything is lined up and straight. Luckily my mom is a pro.

They really complete the room. They already have been used as a hiding place. Penelope loves to go behind them and hide from us or play peek a boo.

Then my mom suggested we add a ruffle to the top of Gweniveve's pink curtains to add some fun and make them extra cute. I again used the fabric from DS Quilts Collection.

I didn't like it until we added the ribbon at the bottom of the ruffle but now I LOVE them.

Now I am off to choose some fabric for new pillows for my tv room as the colors have changed. It will be interesting as these colors are not my usual, red, green, gold, brown. I will let you know how it goes.

Gorgeous fabric

I know alot of you know already (especially if you are on flickr) but Denyse Schimdt has released a fabric line at JoAnn's and we have all gone gaga for it! It is sooo pretty.

DS Prints

It does not have a name for the fabric line but it looks like the colorways are Picnic & Fairground and it is by DS Quilts Collection. I only bought 7 of the 21 prints. Here is the whole line.

It is so great to have an amazing fabric designer design for JoAnn's since you can buy her fabric with a 50% off coupons!!! Which is unheard of in the quilting world. Most of us do not buy fabric at any place other than quilting stores since the designer fabric is sold there plus the quality of fabric is just so much better!

DS prints @ JoAnn's

I bought the prints that I like the most out of the line and I bought them with my 2 girls in mind. I am pretty sure they will both have lots of dresses out of them this summer so keep your eye out for them. After drooling over them yesterday (really I was) I have decided to use one of the prints for Penelope's curtains which I have been searching and searching for the right print to make her some and these are PERFECT! I just need to figure out which one I want to use ( I am torn between 3 of them) and go and buy lots more of it so I have enough for curtains.

My Loot!

I just love when fabric gets you and makes you feel inspired. I know lots of us are going crazy over it and we should probably calm down since JoAnns will stock this line for a long time (that is what JoAnns is saying) but I think we all just fell in love and wanted to be inspired! I know I can't wait to sew with this fabric and get it up in my home and made into clothes for the girls to admire all the time. Happy Sewing to you!

Sunday Stash - swaps & etsy edition

I haven't done a Sunday Stash for a long time. I don't know why, but I thought today would be perfect since I have received tons of fabric from swaps (thanks everyone!) over on flickr or some that I have purchased as an early Christmas gift from etsy. I know terrible but........

Sunday Stash

Most of these fabrics will be going into a quilt for ME. Yup I am finally going to make me a quilt all from my favorite fabrics which are: Flea Market Fancy, Katie Jump Rope & the Ladybugs. I just am going to wait until after the holidays to start it since I have alot of things to make for Christmas. I can't wait to get started though.
