Bookshelf Quilt

I finished my Doll Quilt Swap for my secret partner awhile ago and forgot to post about it. I thought my partner might like this look for a quilt and I do have to saw making the book bindings were alot of fun to put things together for. I was inspired by this block.

Each shelf is something new and I hope my partner loves all the details and if my partner doesn't then atleast I had fun!

Top Shelf

I think the clock just might be my favorite addition to this bookshelf.

Now I just need to figure out the other little things to send to my partner along with the quilt so it can get in the mail.

Wonky Strips Quilt

I woke up with a bee in my bonnet (hehe) the other day and I just could not work on any of the WIP's I have going, which at this point is crazy and so not like me I never have WIP's I like to start and finish a project before I start another one but not this time so far I have 4 WIP's going, until I started and finished this one.

Before naptime I had this much done:

Then by the end of the day I had finished it and felt way better that it was off my chest and out of my mind. I have big plans for this mini quilt. You will just have to wait and see.

I had alot of scraps left over from this WIP so I just used those to complete this quilt. I just love Kaite Jump Rope and Flea Market Fancy fabrics.

A Rainbow for Pooh

Finally after begging me and begging me to make Pooh a quilt I gave in since Gwenie came to me one day last week and said, " Mom, Pooh is FREEZING!" Well we couldn't have that at all. It was fun to make a small quilt, it had been awhile.

Doesn't he look all nice and warm?

All warm

I have really been into straight line quilting lately as you can see from a bunch of my last projects. I think it is one of the faster and easier ways to quilt something.

Pooh's quilting detail

Gwenie took her Pooh to Disneyland one of the last times we went and a woman turned around and asked me how old the Pooh was and I said oh she has had him for a couple of months. The woman was really surprised and said he looked very well loved and would have thought he was a couple of years old. Well. Poor Pooh already looks older then he is.

A sewing frenzy!

Today I woke up and just wanted to sew. Awesomeness! I have been so out of it with sewing since the move and my stuff not being organzied but I got my mojo back today and sewed like crazy. First I made a pillow to go in my room to match the quilt I am making.

My Square Pillow

I have my blocks for the quilt on my design wall (aka living room wall) for now. I am just so in love right now it is crazy! These colors are sooooo me.

a pillow and a quilt

I did straight line quilting on this one down and across and it is perfect.

Then after that was done I finally gave in to Gwen. She has been begging me like crazy to make a blanket for Pooh. I was hoping she would forget soon since I joined in the Doll Quilt Swap 10 and was hoping for a quilt for her but oh well. I can always use it on my wall in my sewing room and also I bet Gwen will use a billion blankets if she had them.

Gwen picked out all the fabrics and told me that she wanted all colors and it to be a rainbow. We got the top done and went to baste it but found out I am all out of batting pieces that are big enough. Hopefully tomorrow we can go to JoAnn's and buy some because apparently Pooh is FREEZING! So we must hurry :) Oh to be a (almost) 4 year old. On that note I found this super cute sewing machine that I am going to buy her for her Birthday. I just wish it came in blue since that is her favorite color, but oh well. What do you think? Has anyone bought this? How is it?

Kit's Quilt

I finished one of my Christmas presents off of my list. I made this doll quilt for my niece since she loves her new American Doll named Kit.

Kit's Quilt

It is 25" x 17" and I strippled the quilt (free motion quilting) which I haven't done in a long time. The binding is a hot pink stripe which you can't really tell from the picture since it is overcast today (looks like rain).

Stars & Patchwork

My nieces room is all done in pinks and yellows so that is what I used for the quilt. Then I found this print in my stash that I have had for a long time and it was perfect for the back.

Now I just need to finish the couple of other things I have on my list for Christmas presents. We (I mean I did) did get the house decorated this morning and later we are going to get the tree. I can't wait for the house to smell like pines. I just love that smell.

Sickness does not equal sewing

Well our trip ended up being not so good. Traffic, sickness & one scary car accident ( our car did 2 360's from sliding on the ice and crashed into the mountain and then waiting for 3 hours for a tow truck to get to us because of all the bad weather) has made it hard for me to sew or blog. I just got back from the Dr. to find out I have Bronchitis ( I was fine until last night when my throat and ears were killing me) which for some reason is what I ALWAYS get when a cold goes bad. So I am just posting this crappy picture I took with my iphone since I left my camera in my husbands car because when we went to get my car fixed I didn't want to leave the camera in my car and have since forgotten to get it out of his. I am not having a good week funny how it all works out that way.

I did, before I started feeling crappy, work on the beginning of a doll quilt for my niece. Hopefully I can get back to it soon. I have plenty to keep me busy with all the sewing I want to get done for Christmas presents.

Starting on Xmas presents

I hope (please please) that you all had a much better holiday then we did. What is everyone making for Christmas presents this year??

Doll Quilt Swap

I have been a total slacker lately and have not sewn forever. Well it turns out that I am expecting number 2 and was not prepared for the exhaustion that has set in. Everyone says every pregnancy is different and I know it is true but this exhaustion was a shock to me. Needless to say I didn't have it with my first, I expected the nauseousness, but was not prepared for the lead that has taken permanent residence in my body making me unable to do anything.

This is me apologizing to everyone out there for being late on sewing quilting bee blocks and everything else. I am SOOOOO not the late person and it is a pet peeve of mine so I am so sorry.

I did finish my Doll quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap 6 going on on flickr. Our partners are a secret and mine has not received hers yet in the mail so I can't tell you who it is, but this is what I made. I did all of my favorite things, embroidery, applique, and log cabins. Mushrooms were my inspiration, obviously.

Mushroom DQS6

I used Alexander Henry's Starling print for the center of each log cabin, my absolute favorite print.

birdie log cabin

I embroidered this little mushroom house because it reminded me of the smurfs (loved that show as a kid).

I made the back simple since most people hang their doll quilts on the wall and the front is so busy so it needed a simple back.

back

We were asked to take a picture of ourselves with the quilt that we receive from our secret partner and I did even though I don't like pictures of myself right now since I have braces, but oh well.

Received!

Here is a better picture of the quilt. It was made by Jennifer who's flickr name is sweetlibertygrace. Her craftsmanship is amazing on this quilt and I love it!

Here is the back of the quilt and the cute label that she made (I edited out our last names) along with some FQ's from the Minny Muu line which are totally gorgeous! Thanks again Jennifer.
